What are we?
The Hospice is a residential facility with seven bedrooms, five baths and will accommodate up to twelve residents at a time in both single and double rooms.
We are dedicated to providing our community with a comprehensive mix of supportive services to assist the veteran living with life threatening illness. To the greatest extent possible we strive to provide a warm family-like atmosphere.
What do we do?
We provide an innovative, specialized transitional housing program
to service homeless veterans who are diagnosed with terminal illness and
are no longer able to care for themselves. Once a veteran is admitted
as a resident, the staff at VHH renders an assessment to identify individual
needs. The Homestead continually assesses the needs of its residents,
assisting them in the difficult process of coping, living and dying with
dignity.
Residents are encouraged to tend to as many of their needs as they area able.
Residents contribute 30% of their income toward the purchase of food and share in the preparation of meals. Weekly house meetings are conducted to address community concerns and issues.
Because of advances in medicine and the quality care the Hospice provides,
patients, in some cases are able to transfer to private living situations.
